Vona L. Deaton, 74, Jackson passed away Friday, October 27, in Oak Island, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Von B. and Elizabeth B. Allen Watts. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Granville Marcus Deaton and Jerry G. Deaton and one sister, Joyce Hardyman. She was a 1960 graduate of Breathit High School and a 1970 graduate of Morehead State University. She was a retired teacher and guidance counselor for the Wolfe County school system. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and the Providence Pentecostal Church. She is survived by her husband, Granville Deaton Jr.; one son, Richard V. Deaton; two daughters-in-law, Amber Booth Deaton and Kelly Deaton Tolliver; six grandchildren, Alexandria Deaton Taylor, Richard Daniels Deaton, Kasandra Elizabeth Deaton, Joyce Evelyn Deaton, Tracy Abigail Deaton, Marcus Tucker Deaton; three great grandchildren. Visitation Wednesday, November 1, 6PM. Funeral Thursday, November 2, 10AM with Rev. Gary Bellamy officiating. Burial in the Mill Dam Cemetery at Butterpoint Road at Canoe. Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be brothers-in-law.
