Mary H. (Griffith) Howard, 81, Newport passed away Thurs., July 30, at her residence. She was a member and a cofounder of the West 7th St. First Church of God at Newport. She was the widow of the late Rev. Carl I. Howard and the daughter of the late Mitchell and Grace (Bush) Griffith. She was also preceded in death by half brother, Rufus Griffith; brother, Joseph "J.C." Griffith; sister, Viola Haddix. She is survived by one son, Phillip (Sandra) Howard; three daughters, Rosemary (Gary) May, Carlene (Danny) Guilkey, Grace (David) Davis; one brother, Mitchell Griffith Jr.; and a sister, Nancy Becker; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; multitude of nieces and nephews; members of the church.
