Mary Ellen Deaton Curtis, 88, Moorefield, WV, passed this life on Wed., Nov. 18, 2015 at the Grant Co. Nursing Home in Petersburg, WV. Born on August 9, 1927 at Barwick, KY she was the daughter of the late Francis Marion "Preacher" Deaton and Armina Turner Deaton. Mary was a retired school teacher with over 28 years of service. She was also a business woman, owning and operating her own retail business for more than 30 years. She was both a collector of and dealer of antiques. Mary loved to travel, having visited all fifty states and nine countries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Lee Curtis; one daughter, Ellen; two sisters and one brother. She is survived by two sons, Robert Francis Curtis, Larry Cecil Curtis; two sisters, Shannie Curtis, Hallie Banks; three brothers, Walter Deaton, John Deaton, Charles Deaton; two grandchildren, Rob Curtis, Kris Carter; three great grandchildren and many beloved nephews and nieces. Memorial services Saturday at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends at 12:00 PM . Burial in the Haddix Cemetery at Haddix.
